Compound Disaster

Pixel Curtain speaks of the compound disaster undergone by beings who are pushed to the margins, doing so through air pollution sensors, the data they yield, and beads as a modular unit of form. In the pollution damage of the twenty first century, where clear causality is difficult to establish, those who exist beneath a given atmosphere tend to pass through a sequence: fear of the unknown, rumor and suspicion, isolation, and then solidarity. That is to say, the pollutant particle, the scale of the harm, the suffering itself, none of these accumulate into a single unit, nor do they disperse like wind. They linger at our side. Within the structure of the work, these very features of the disaster surface through the mediation of digital sensors and data, revealing their compound nature and its complexity.
