Ohnehin is a feminist material research project turning discarded pantyhose into yarn. Two hosiery collections explore how tights freed women from mending while reinforcing social expectations. Damage becomes both material and message.

Ohnehin is a feminist material research project, focused on a yarn made of discarded pantyhose. The project critically examines the role of discardable tights for women, positioning them as a complex liberator which freed women from the labour of mending yet did not address the social expectations which tights exist to meet. This project spanned across two semesters, resulting in two hosiery collections. The first explores the deterioration of both the quality of and our relationship to our garments. With fonts pulled from historical samplers, words are purposefully formed by holes in the knit, reflecting the damage which pantyhose sustains. The second centers the damage more deliberately, reimposing mapped rips into the new garments.
