Continuous Flux

Continuous Flux uses multi-layered jacquard weaving, ranging from two to twenty-four layers on a monofilament warp, to translate women’s life stories into material structures. The work is based on interviews with women from different backgrounds and cultures, allowing biography to inform material choices, structural decisions, and layered processes rather than illustrating their stories literally. Partly woven from deadstock yarns sourced from a local carpet company in Sweden, the project reflects my own lived experience of resilience and transformation while addressing the universality of these experiences among women. Each piece exists in a constant state of change: as layers are opened and the textile is manipulated, new colors and materials emerge. A work can be reshaped and reconfigured for different spaces and contexts, extending its life rather than existing as one final object. The textiles are not fixed, because the lives they hold never were.
