Revaluation
What makes something unwanted? Objects are often valued according to their function, condition, age, or relevance to our lives. When they no longer meet these expectations, they are easily separated from us and classified as waste. But is their value really gone, or has the value we assign to them simply changed? twofold looks at this moment of transition, questioning how and by whom value is defined.
Urushi
Urushi is more than a material for preserving objects. It has long been used to repair, protect, and transform things, allowing traces of time and use to remain part of their story. Rather than restoring an object to its original state, urushi embraces its history and imperfections, carrying them forward into a new stage of its life.
Circulation
Urushi may make an old object appear new, inviting us to look at it again. But beyond its new appearance, twofold asks us to look back at the object itself: who once chose it, why they wanted it, and what years it has lived through. By bringing these stories back into view, twofold hopes to inspire a more conscious relationship with the things we choose to let go.
