Discover new and leading work by more than 50 emerging and established designers. Experience objects as snapshots within a chain, full of visible and invisible relations with what was, what is and what is yet to come.

Embodied Energy, Vibrant Relations

Behind every object lies a world we do not immediately see. Raw materials, energy, labour and countless natural processes come together within it. Temporarily. Because what appears still and visible turns out, on closer inspection, to be full of movement and relationships: connected to what came before, to what remains out of sight and to what it is yet to become. Seen this way, every object is a form of embodied energy: a snapshot in a chain that began long before us and will continue long after us.

The group exhibition Embodied Energy, Vibrant Relations brings together work that makes this continuous movement visible and tangible. The works show us what can emerge when we rethink the way we use resources and produce things. In closer connection with our surroundings, grounded in the understanding that everything and everyone is entangeled. Some designers are already taking concrete steps in this direction, for example by designing for insects or working with bacteria, algae or human hair. Others question the origins of what we make, use and leave behind. Because nothing ever truly stands still: every design is part of relationships and transformations that mostly remain unseen.
