Eighteen young designers from Hong Kong imagine Design Weeks for six cities around the world, exploring how design can connect cultures, engage communities and inspire positive change.

Six Cities

Eighteen young designers from Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) worked in six teams to imagine Design Weeks for Rio de Janeiro, Seoul, Copenhagen, Cairo, Reykjavik and Athens. Bringing together different disciplines, perspectives and cultural contexts, they developed visual identities that not only represent each city, but propose a future for it.

A Shared Vision

Through visual systems, motion design, posters, banners and film, the students explored how a shared visual language can connect cultures, engage communities and create positive energy around the future. Together, the six projects form a collective statement from a new generation of designers — celebrating creativity, cultural difference and the possibilities that emerge when we imagine the future together.

Global Connection

Inspired by the energy and success of Dutch Design Week, Global Design Week explores how Design Weeks around the world can become platforms for connection, creativity and positive change. Presented at Dutch Design Week, the project is a collaboration between Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and Thonik, initiated and led by Nikki Gonnissen, co-founder and creative director of Thonik.
