out of the head. Into the Body.
Our society is increasingly focused on the external. We spend hours on our phones and social media, travelling, shopping and constantly seeking new stimuli. But in this constant focus on the outside, do we lose touch with what is happening within?
Into The Body explores how design can help us reconnect with our inner world: to sense, process and integrate what is happening within us. I believe our environments can play an active role in this. Our homes and everyday habitats could support not only our physical health, but also our emotional and mental wellbeing.
This year, my Lab hosts an exhibition by architecture students, alongside a small selection of realised projects from my own practice. The new 'Into The Body' experiment takes place at Strijp-S, where you can experience the wooden 'Healing Huts'. These are developed as part of my collaboration with Heijmans, exploring the concept of 'Healing Homes'.
