Strata is a textile collection by Kaustik Studio inspired by geological layers. Hand-tufted with wool coloured using natural pigments and dyes, it explores landscape, time and material transformation through colour, texture and relief.

Geological Layers

Strata draws inspiration from geological layers: natural archives formed through pressure, erosion, sedimentation and the passage of time. The collection translates these processes into large-scale textile surfaces in which colour, volume and relief create a sense of depth and movement. Each piece is hand-tufted with wool coloured using natural pigments and dyes, producing subtle variations that make every fibre and tonal transition unique. Whites, earthy shades and concentrated touches of colour overlap like mineral deposits, revealing traces of transformation across the surface. By connecting geological processes with the slow, tactile nature of textile production, Strata invites viewers to observe the landscape not as something static, but as a living structure that is constantly accumulating, eroding and changing.
