SYNC reveals how the Netherlands now exists in an artificial balance. The water level that makes daily life possible is not a natural equilibrium but a carefully engineered one. Seasonal changes and increasingly extreme weather conditions continuously disturb this balance, requiring constant human intervention. Without pumping technologies, water would return to its natural height and large areas of land would vanish beneath it.
