Dutch Design Week (DDW) has been nominated for the Appreciation Award at the Eindhoven Culture Prize 2026! A special recognition of the role DDW has played in Eindhoven for more than 25 years and of the designers, makers, partners and venues who make the festival possible year after year.
Stichting Cultuur Eindhoven has announced nine nominees across three categories. Dutch Design Week (DDW) has been nominated for the Appreciation Award for Organisations alongside MU and Striptopia. This award recognises an organisation that has made a significant contribution to Eindhoven’s cultural life over an extended period. We warmly congratulate MU and Striptopia on their nominations!
We also congratulate Kruisstraat Original, La Cantina / XEHV Radio and Studio Beun, who are in the running for the Encouragement Award, as well as Bart Hess, Niels Bakkerus and Woody Veneman, the nominees for the Appreciation Award for Individuals.
Recognition for design in the city
The nomination is a wonderful recognition of the power of design and of the city in which DDW has developed into an international platform over the years.
The nine nominees were selected by the Eindhoven Culture Prize jury. This year, 160 nominations were submitted for 56 different makers, organisations and initiatives. An independent jury selected the nominees based on their impact on the city, their ability to connect people, social relevance, artistic quality and significance to Eindhoven.
Jury Chair Yasin Torunoglu: ‘With this tenth edition, we are looking not only at what culture means to Eindhoven today, but also at the cultural makers shaping the city of tomorrow. This year’s nominees demonstrate the diversity of Eindhoven’s cultural landscape: from design and art in public space to community building, performance and cultural meeting places. Together, they show how creativity connects people and offers new perspectives.’
