POLDER TV: from city to countryside

From aerobics on the acre, a talk show at the farmhouse to a potato cooking show in an outdoor kitchen: join Polder TV with episodes of amongst others scientist Adriaan Duiveman, designers Atelier NL, artist collective ComfortBall, flower parade designer Gezienus Bruining, curator Henk Kloosterman, trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort, performer Natasha Papadopoulou, and researcher Stephan Petermann.  

Makers and thinkers from the Dutch polder region and beyond develop tv broadcasts from the farmstead of designer-architect Rianne Makkink. Especially for Dutch Design Week (DDW) 2020, the terrain in the Noordoostpolder, the most iconic agricultural landscape of The Netherlands, has been turned into a temporary tv studio. Saturday 17 October | De polder studio

Fifteen years ago designer duo Makkink & Bey settled in the Noordoostpolder. The flat polder landscape continues to fascinate Rianne Makkink. In this episode of Polder TV Rianne takes us along several designs and researches. These have been developed over the years from her residence in the yard. Tuesday 20 October | Pionieren in de polder

This year, architect Rem Koolhaas presented an investigation into new forms of pioneering in rural areas. Researcher Stephan Petermann also contributed to the exhibition and publication 'Countryside, The Future' which can be seen in the Guggenheim Museum in New York. In this episode of Polder TV, Stephan talks to us about the current Dutch pioneering and new developments he encounters all over the world. Watch the episode below. 

Wednesday 21 October | Het polder servies

In collaboration with local farmers, the designer duo Atelier NL collected soil samples from the clay layer of the polder. The composition of each plot turned out to be very different, which meant that it never had the same colour. A beautiful tableware was baked from the clay. Designer Lonny van Rijswijck and the Noordoostpolder farmer Gerard de Bruijn remained friends. How are they doing now? Watch this episode below.

The annual flower parade in Sint Jansklooster is a hidden gem. Gezienus Bruining is the young creative brain behind various high-profile corsow cars. Friday 23 October | De polder en de aardappel

Cooking, baking, roasting, frying, you can do a lot with a potato. In a special cooking programme, the Korean artist duo ComfortBall will compete against artists Rolina Nell and Paul Giesen from the Noordoostpolder. What are we eating today?
