Drawing upon Eindhoven’s history of lighting innovation, New Objectivity architecture, and the recontextualisation of a waste stream, The Lens Luminaire installation has been expanded into a collection of light art objects.
The Lens Luminaire Floor and Desk Lamps
Each lamp is hand-produced by our studio members using imperfect optical lenses that are unable to be used for eyewear. Held by delicate brass arms in front of a warm LED beam, the unique optical qualities of each lens is highlighted, bending and distorting the light as it passes through.
With so much value in these lenses, we cannot see them as waste and by recontextualising them, believe we can give them a new purpose while showcasing their inherent beauty. Made from solid brass with an integrated touch dimmer, these pieces are the tangible convergence of research and inspiration, for objects imbued with value and hand-crafted to last a lifetime.
