“Codes in Knots” is an ongoing artistic research that uses various technologies to encode words in knots and surfaces. It reflects on the complex methods of communications and coordination of human activities through artifacts, exploring the potential of digital tools to create meaningful objects while promoting a decolonial and feminist perspective on the field of design.Through a series of digitally rendered weavings and 3D printed physical manifestations, a network of concepts and meanings is created and stored in an object or surface that can be interpreted in different ways depending on the context, culture, language, time or geography.
Codes in Knots, is inspired by the Andean Khipus that are knotted string devices used by the Incas to store and transmit information.
