Horticultural exhibition Floriade Expo 2022 just started and is open until 9 October. Its theme is Growing Green Cities 2122, about solutions on how to make cities greener, healthier and more fun. A subject that is touched on in many projects on DDW21. No wonder, some projects shown on DDW can be found on Floriade. And you might run into some familiar faces from the design community as well!

Exploded View Beyond Building

This installation in the form of a sustainably built house for sure looks familiar when you’ve visited the Ketelhuisplein at DDW21. Here, you’ll find out more about circularity and discover everything that’s there to know about biobased materials, methods and stories.

Next Nature Network

Next Nature Network is on Floriade with Nature loves Technology. An exhibition curated by William Myers and Emma van der Leest. Together with Next Nature they are bringing the best design practices together as part of the Dutch Innovation Experience (DiX), a biobased pavillion that hosts no less than 24 designers!

Studio Ossidiana

Former Dutch Design Awards winner Studio Ossidiana (winner in the Habitat 2020 category) is also prominently present in Almere. For Floriade, the Rotterdam architecture and design studio designed an art pavilion. It consists of 3 circular parts that seem to float in the water.

Design community represent

As you can see, the design community is well represented! Other designers at Floriade that you can run into at various places include Onkruidenier, Zus, Emma van der Leest, Audrey Large, Omlab x Fillip Studios, and Overtreders-W and many more.

Growing Green City Conference

On 4 and 5 July, the Growing Green City 2122 Conference will take place. For this conference, Dutch Design Foundation is programming a number of speakers. But more about that later!
