The operation of the construction can be traced back to the three dimensions, the x, y and z axis, when you block them, a construction is created. From these parameters we made this serie by means of a CNC milling machine as our tool. Made out of one miter joint, one material, one production method.
Translation of old crafts by means of contemporary tools.
How can we use technology well to think like makers?
From these parameters we made a series of furniture by means of a CNC milling machine as our tool. All share the same miter construction which is scalable according to the needs. We translate the old miter joint with a computer-controlled
milling machine. This machine is milling all the connections with only one milling tool, a 45 degree chamfer mill. When the machine is done we have the layout of our furniture, from there we fold every piece together to form the furniture. It’s made out of one miter joint, one mono material and one production method.
By working with a mono material, the recycling process is simplified and our dependence on suppliers is also limited even as the supply chain. With our technique we can make a solid looking piece of furniture out of sheet material. By using this method we work very efficiently and only have a little over 4% waste material.
