This project is now archived and was part of DDW18

The Zuiderzee Museum focuses on the history, the present-day situation and the future of the former Zuiderzee area. Our outdoor department houses a rich collection of authentic buildings from several villages in the area. Here, both young and old can experience the Zuiderzee culture. At the indoor museum visitors can get acquainted with special art and the regional cultural heritage from before and after the closure of the Zuiderzee.

Characteristic of the Zuiderzee Museum‘s approach is that it makes a connection between its cultural-historical collection and contemporary art & design. Every year the museum invites designers to develop new projects inspired by the rich Zuiderzee history. This year the central theme is the region’s traditional food culture with its typical flavours and tastes, for which we invited the Foodcurators design studio.

About Foodcurators
This design studio – founded in 2012 by Digna Kosse and Lucas Mullié, two professionals in the field of design and cooking – operates on the intersection of food and design. Apart from their fascination with industrial as well as traditional food production, the relation between food and time is another major aspect in their work.
