Iris Nijenhuis | Modular textile jewellery
Dasha Martynova
Iris Nijenhuis graduated from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute with, among other experimental textiles, a technique in which the fabric is laser-cut into small puzzle pieces that form the basis of the design process. Suitable for many applications such as her innovative jewellery collection.
Technique:
Iris uses all kinds of textiles like scuba, neoprene and artificial leather. The fabrics are cut by laser, washed and dried and then she puzzles it together piece by piece. Her items are vegan and washable.
Vision:
Colorful, lightweight

About Iris Nijenhuis
Iris would love to wrap the whole world in puzzle pieces! This technique is a good solution for the reuse of textile. If you've worn out your coat or top, cut it into puzzle pieces and you can recreate new shapes and accessories.
She already sometimes recycles fabrics from second-hand clothing, but not everything is suitable for lasercutting and puzzling. She'd like to get in touch with people who can help her find the right materials to do more in the field of reusing textile/clothing.
