KLAAIKLÚT is a research project about the dyeing of textiles with local clay and silt from the landscape I grew up in. Besides telling personal stories I want to raise awareness about how we take care of the landscapes we live in and address underappreciated materials and give them a new value.
About Marije Dijkstra
My work is based on the research of landscapes. Besides my natural dyeing research I make textile artworks and installations. In my installations my goal is to communicate my connection with the landscape to the viewer. Besides telling stories I want to raise awareness about how we take care of the landscapes we live in and address underappreciated materials and give them a new value. In my projects there is always an element of technical research about colour and natural dyeing of textiles.
