In this project I am exploring what it means for me to be a woman. It's about the sexuality of women and how it's often still a taboo.
Women as sexual beings
I was 13 years old when I had an experience with slut shaming. A photo of a naked girl spread online and people said it was me, but I was not the girl on the photo. This incident really shaped the woman I am today and taught me at a young age that it's wrong to express yourself sexually. Because to express yourself sexually as a woman is slutty and inappropriate. At least, that's what I was told. Nearly 10 years later I still struggle with my own sexuality as a result of this experience. With the help of this project I am slowly but surely trying to make peace with the fact that it's okay to be a woman and to be sexual.
To be a woman is to be sexual.
