SLIS table designed by Hugo van der Loo_2022
Wood naturally holds tension. When growing, trees seek balance to remain stable on the ground. Whereas woodworking usually suppresses tension, this design uses it. The wood joinery technique, based on the elasticity and tension of the material, results in a sturdy, but lightweight furniture design.
About Hugo van der Loo
Hugo is an individual Rotterdam based designer since 2018. His projects involve product design, interior works and set design and construction for film and television. In his way of working the designing and making are intertwined and an evolving process that can’t be seen separately. Projects are often initiated by material research, forgotten artisans techniques, a design phenomenon or a happy accident that sparks the imagination.
