What do we deem sacred? In a context where sex work is so often badly regarded, even in the Netherlands, how can we put a different perspective on a work that can also represent quite a strong body freedom ?

Rethinking representation

I wanted to switch the soft culture representation of sex work, by inverting the usual poor opinion on that field of work. What would a stripper god would look like? Can the baroque representation of this speculative deity help see this work in a new light? Sex work is first and foremost giving; giving to the other, giving one-self. This piece is an attempt at showing it, through the image of the sacrifice of the giving god. Though open to many other representation just like the other son of God; but it’s definitely centered on the empowerment of sex workers, and meant to fight back the disgust we sometimes face. I wanted to propose a narrative where we are for once only depicted in a positive light. Where sex work is really considered as work.
