Cryptid 01 – Bigfoot can be seen as a domestic sample of the elusive, where myth, nature and the digital merge.

The red circle, a domestic sample of the elusive.

The red circle is often used in shots taken by cryptozoologists (researchers of hidden animals) or walkers to surround enigmatic shapes in the landscape that they believe to be cryptids such as UFOs, the Loch Ness monster or Bigfoot. But most of the time, this red circle only surrounds an abstract void, thus designing itself the imaginary target it was simply supposed to indicate. Cryptid 01 – Bigfoot can be seen as a domestic sample of the elusive, where myth, nature and the digital merge.

About Dungeon & Design

By placing equal importance on narrative and materiality, Dungeon & Design creates mythical objects and installations that defend a romantic vision of modernity, in which social phenomena and aesthetics aim to contribute to the preservation of an imaginary heritage. At times alternative and marginalized, at times rooted in ancient and forgotten craftsmanship, the studio aims to diffuse stories through the intimacy of materials. D&D by Pauline Rip and Jonas Hejduk is a studio based in Rotterdam.
