Thomas Eyck (1964-2023) started his design label t.e. in 2007 with a first collection of traditional tin buckets by Studio Job and delicate drinking glasses made of laboratory glass by Aldo Bakker. His fascination of materials came from working at Royal Tichelaar Makkum for seven years. Thomas combined material, craftsmanship and design in a unique way, and had the ability to connect the right people to each other. During the last 15 years he worked with numerous designers such as Christien Meindertsma, Hella Jongerius, Irma Boom, Maarten Kolk & Guus Kusters and Ulrike Rehm. This resulted into the collection that we know today. During this DDW, Kazerne celebrates the significance of Thomas Eyk for the design field. His inspiring working method, his always keen eye for talent and his personality are greatly missed.
