Internationality as Intra-Action
What does ‘internationality’ look like in a time when war and climate change have dissolved national boundaries? Intra-nationality: Polyphonic Dialogue explores this question through the works of six artists. By situating here, in the Netherlands, as an “intra-space” where cultures, politics, and institutions converge, this project reimagines internationality as an emerging process of internal relationships.
Intra-active Dialogues
“Intra-nationality” is entangled here, even though each piece follows a distinct path. The six socially engaged, multidisciplinary artists focus on, or originate from, the contexts of various countries including Lebanon, India, Indonesia, China and South Korea, which they have left behind. At the same time, their perspectives on these countries are shaped by their experience here. This entanglement is demonstrated through the coexistence of diverse media, including satirical sound, immersive videos, sensory installations and participatory workshops.
Polyphonic Future for Intra-nationality
As an emerging system, “intra-nationality” fosters dialogue among people, artworks and contexts. With its polyphonic voices, the audience is invited to imagine the future of internationality.
