Erasmus+ Collaboration
The exhibit presents outcomes of an Erasmus+ collaboration that connects five European design programmes, practiced at Aarhus University (Denmark), University of Lisbon (Portugal), Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), and University of Lapland (Finland). Each program contributes research and teaching perspectives shaped by environmental conditions, material realities, infrastructures, climates, and pedagogical cultures. Sustainability challenges take many forms, ranging from large-scale and seemingly distant concerns to conditions experienced directly in everyday life. The projects in the exhibition reflect this breadth, spanning scales from material encounters and tangible interaction to systems thinking and societal change.
Presented Projects
At the centre of the exhibit is an Open Educational Resource (OER) Co-Designer for Sustainable Interaction Design, developed collaboratively across the partner institutions. It supports design educators in navigating sustainability across different contexts and scales, while helping prospective designers consider how their practices can contribute to more sustainable futures. Within the exhibit, the OER comes to life through its connections to the exhibited works, showing how different pedagogical approaches shape sustainable interaction design practices. It brings together student and research projects across educational levels (Bachelor to PhD), from material to system and across scales of inquiry. Curated from the “Micro” to the “Macro”, the works move between material experimentation, embodied interaction, systems thinking, social infrastructures, and ecological relations. Alongside each project, the exhibition displays the tools, methods, prompts, and thematic keywords that informed its development.
Participant Engagement
Part exhibition, part pedagogical laboratory, and part shared educational experiment, the exhibit is envisioned as a space for audience engagement. This exchange is reciprocal: with visitors’ consent, interactions with the OER can contribute data to its continued development, while the tool itself supports the organisation of educational activities in sustainable interaction design. Thereby, the OER Co-Designer becomes a living infrastructure for generating new forms of learning and exchange.
