Through and Through 2.0 is a cushion collection based on the scoubidou knot. By experimenting with this knot in different ways, new possibilities came to light. The cushions are made by Ditte during her artist in residency at the Valkhof Museum.

The collection

The collection consists out of three different types of cushions. A big floor cushion, a rectangular cushion in combination with a bench and a square cushion for on a stool or chair. Scoubidou is usually known for making bracelets and keychains. Experimenting with this knot resulted in new possibilities. Knotting with different materials, scale and colours, resulted in different objects. The cushions consist out of hand made cords that are sown together in the middle with a wide zigzag stich. These cords are then knotted into a cushion. The layers of the knot is what gives the cushion its softness and unique shape. The patterns of the fabrics are designed for the cushion. Photographing, sketching and testing different colour combinations resulted into four final prints that match the pattern of the knot

Valkhof Museum

From November 2025 until September 2026 Ditte got the opportunity to take part in the artist in residency of the Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen. In Nijmegen she got a studio space offered by the museum, which made that there was time and most of all space to develop this collection. The cushions are now in the museum café and available in the museum shop.
