For this collaboration I developed a collage that was enlarged and printed on a sheer fabric, resulting in a curtain resembling a landscape.
Textile flirts and interacts with light
Kendix joined forces with Stella Verdult to develop a unique design for their curtain collection that's based on their mutual love for vibrant off-tone colours. Kendix's signature sheer fabrics inspired Stella to play with light and transparency in the same way she plays with paper. The effect that's created by layering, tearing and composing with paper is similar to the way a textile flirts and interacts with light. A dialogue of colour emerged, resulting in an all-over print with the strong resemblance of a blooming landscape.
The print combines signature nuances, such as pink, yellow and Stella's favourite golden-green, together with chalky contouring and neutral notes. The collaboration honours the creative process of the designer and challenges the commercial boundaries of the industry. By turning the curtain into a landscape, into a piece of art, the collaboration can be considered a sophisticated and expressive complement to Kendix's current collection.
