The gym for mental fitness!

We Are Social Rebels and the Municipality of Eindhoven welcome you to The Mental Gym, the gym for mental fitness! Here you’ll find various 'mental workouts' designed to strengthen your mental health. It's important to actively take care of your mental well-being and discover which methods or 'exercises' help you feel mentally fit. You can think of your mental fitness as a muscle that you can train, just like your body. Everyone has different needs to stay mentally fit, and there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. That’s why The Mental Gym offers a variety of mental workouts to help you discover which exercises work best for you. How mentally fit are you?

The ‘mental workouts’

The mental workouts are linked to different themes such as breaking taboos, daring to fail, connecting with others, and being honest with yourself. The workouts consist of various games and installations. For example, there's Build a Bench: build a bench together while answering questions about mental health. Then there's The Body Shop: the store for your perfect body, where you can engage in discussions about body modification. Another is Mental Words: a card game where you describe words related to mental health without actually saying them. Lastly, there are Flop Cards: a stamp card that gives you the opportunity to celebrate the mistakes in life. Discover The Body Shop at Manifestations in the Veemgebouw and the other mental workouts at Kelderman en Van Noort!

Prevention is better than cure

We Are Social Rebels, in collaboration with the Municipality of Eindhoven, created The Mental Gym for Mental Health Week 2024. This week focuses on creating a space where individuals can openly discuss sensitive topics and learn more about mental health. The Mental Gym aims to shift the focus in mental healthcare from curing to preventing. This approach targets not only healthcare professionals and care seekers but also anyone who may not be in immediate need of mental health support. Often, people seek help only when they are already facing mental health issues, but The Mental Gym seeks to raise awareness about self-care and prevention. It emphasizes the importance of actively maintaining mental health to prevent problems before they arise, rather than just addressing them afterward. By encouraging early care for mental well-being, we hope to contribute to a healthier society where prevention is a key focus.

About We Are Social Rebels

As Social Rebels, we advocate for a society where everyone contributes in their own way. A society where people are at the center and contribute with their unique talents. To achieve this, we are unafraid to question and change the system. Over the years, we have gained extensive experience in designing, researching, and implementing social innovations. We involve both people in everyday life and strategists within the regulatory world.
