FUTURE Proof!

With the Social label community & design collection, Petra Janssen (studio Boot) and Simone Kramer (C-mone) are building a socially sustainable future

The focus is shifting from ‘ego’ (I) to ‘eco’ (we). The designer’s role is to make the invisible visible within the discipline. Just imagine if everyone could get involved. What are you doing in the space between?

A home for the future

In times of greater inequality, increased polarisation, more people fleeing war, and when falsehoods become the truth, having a home becomes even more important. This applies to so many people on this planet. Are you allowed and able to participate in society, and what do you need to be seen?

During Design for Design Week (DDW), Social Label is a guest at The Social Hub Eindhoven for the third time. Together, we’re creating connections between visitors, refugees, locals, designers and makers.
Outside, Social Label is presenting the ‘Koekjesclub’ (Biscuit Club) in its eye-catching workshop van, featuring women from the Den Bosch asylum seekers’ centres and a chef, who will be serving their homemade cookies in a cookie tin to offer a new taste of the Netherlands. Inside, the art installation/presentation of the Social Label design collection is on display, featuring the latest products created in the Social Label workshops, including PRONK (cabinet), HART (cloth/apron) and SJAAL (scarf). Our mission is highlighted by a poem about ‘Tussentijd’ (in the space between).
