A Simple Machine is a series of objects that integrate physical activity into the workplace. At DDW we will present Desk_1 and Stool_1, which together form a human powered sit/stand workspot for office or at home use.

Introducing movement into static environments with human powered work furniture.

With A Simple Machine HeijltjesAkkaya disrupt static work environments with movement and momentum. A Simple Machine combines ergonomics and engineering to promote physical activity in the workplace. Its pulleys, weights and levers, powered by human energy, enable a new working rhythm.

About HeijltjesAkkaya

HeijltjesAkkaya is a design studio led by Simon Akkaya and Maarten Heijltjes. Previously working as Waarmakers Studio. HeijltjesAkkaya is driven by a fascination of how the objects we surround us with influence us, and our behaviour. With their designs they attempt to exert a positive influence. Carefully considering the context of their designs, taking into account the smallest details that affect the human-product interaction.
