Connect it living with construction
Connect it living with construction
Eindhoven is transforming through KnoopXL, a major urban redevelopment project. While new housing, mobility networks, and public spaces are planned, the city faces a key challenge: how can people live, move, and connect during ongoing construction?

A City in Transition

Eindhoven is transforming through KnoopXL, one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in the Netherlands. Over the next decades, major construction activities will reshape the area around Eindhoven Central Station and Fellenoord, creating new housing, mobility networks, and public spaces.

While the final vision promises a greener and more connected city, the construction process itself creates a different challenge: how do people continue to live, move, meet, and identify with their city while it is constantly changing?

Design concept

CONNECT IT explores temporary infrastructure as an opportunity rather than a compromise. Instead of simply redirecting people around construction sites, the project proposes a modular pedestrian bridge system together with interactive design for construction fences that maintain the construction sites active and safe. The created connections allow for new social and spatial experiences in the city, for the people, residents, pedestrians and business owners that rely on it. Our project aims to give the city back to the people, with temporary interventions attracting visitors while make Eindhoven more accessible, liveable and connected during its transformation.
