Occasion
Occasion brings together six independent design studios whose practices are rooted in material, craftsmanship and experimentation. From solid wood shaped through centuries-old joinery techniques to sculptural lighting cast from recycled urban rubble, from industrial metalwork to refined objects where engineering and intuition meet, each designer explores the relationship between material, process and time. Their work is defined by a hands-on approach, visible construction and a pursuit of lasting quality over fleeting trends. During Dutch Design Week 2026, these individual practices merge into a single immersive exhibition, where contrasts strengthen one another and create a shared experience. Occasion reveals how distinct disciplines can converge around a common belief: that meaningful design emerges when experimentation, craftsmanship and material are given the space to shape one another.
