What Design Can Do, on 30 June and 1 July 2016 in Amsterdam, features another stellar cast of inspiring international speakers on the social relevance of design. Europe and Africa are the focus of this sixth event. Struggling to find stability and forge its identity, the old continent is seeking help. That is why one of the themes of this two-day conference is: What Africa Can Do for Europe. Leading architects, product designers and design thinkers from Africa will address the conference and provide fresh perspectives. Other topics in the spotlight this year include What Design Can Do for Refugees & What Design Can Do For Music.

What Design Can Do also features a varied programme of side events, including workshops, exhibitions, a film festival and networking sessions. Moreover, on 1 July the five finalists of the What Design Can Do Refugee Challenge, an international design competition to improve the lives of refugees, will be announced by Bert Koenders, the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
