Sunflowers can help to reduce our dependence and the environmental damage of cotton in the fashion industry. In her project ClimaFibre, Jess Redgrave is working on a high-quality new material using residual flows from the cultivation for sunflower oil and sunflowers that grow as an intermediate crop in regenerative food cultivation. The entire flower can be used for textile fibers, pigments and a waterproof coating for, say, a raincoat.

Jess Redgrave was one of the seven talented designers highlighted during Dutch Design Week 2023 at the Secrid Talent Podium in Klokgebouw, a collaboration between Secrid and Dutch Design Foundation.

Thus, the Secrid Talent Podium supports talented designers in developing products that contribute to a sustainable future.
