ECAL/university of art en design Lausanne

Lausanne University of Art and Design (ECAL) offers its students educational courses in the field of art and design. Ranked among the world's top 10 universities of art and design, this school imparts sound knowledge to its students and provides stimulating, practical-based experiences.

ECAL (Lausanne University of Art and Design) was founded in 1821 and is currently headed by Alexis Georgacopoulos. It offers educational courses at bachelor and master level in the field of visual communication, art and design. The quality of its teaching and its international reputation make the ECAL one of the most prestigious schools on the global art and design scene. This is why around 600 students representing more than 40 nationalities choose to study here.

The ECAL showcases its work all over the world at trade shows, exhibitions and conferences, as well as in the Pompidou Centre in Paris, Cooper Union in New York and Design Days in Dubai. Events such as these are a way of raising the profile of the school on the one hand, and promoting the students’ work on the other, whilst at the same time introducting them to the work of other artists. Thanks to its extensive network of partners and the purchase of works by prestigious museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, ECAL has become a key player in the art world.

Famous artists have studied at ECAL, including designer Julie Richoz who works for Alessi and Louis Vuitton, photographer Namsa Leuba who was nominated for the Foam Talent Award, as well as artist Nicolas Party.
