(Archive) Shell Symphony

This project was part of DDW 2023
Shell Symphony — © Ronald Smits

This installation is inspired by the treasures of the sea. Shells of various shapes and sizes come together to create a unique symphony.

Like the rhythm of the tides, the pinnidae shell, hammer oyster, varnish clams, capiz shells, and saddle oyster provide the percussion, after which 33 scallop shells take on the melody and seamlessly merge into a whole. The acoustics of the coast play a crucial role in realising an extraordinary and enchanting experience. A testament to the natural harmony can only be found in the depths of the ocean.
