How to develop an educational programme for young people in detention, that's fit for independent use during the time they spend in their room?

Pretty strange, right? Young people in detention can hardly work on their personal development while they're in their 'room'.

Co-creating a more meaningful "kamertijd" (room-time)

Educational Program op Kamer (in your room) is a unique project in which, together with young people and staff, we explore how they can spend their 'room time' within a juvenile detention facility in a more meaningful way. Specifically, we are developing and testing 'theme boxes'. The themes, such as Music & Beats, Sports & Body and Business & Work, were decided upon collaboratively.

Many young people in youth institutions are already engaged in activities like music, such as rapping and beat-making. With the Music & Beats box, they learn to work with music programs and record and mix music. Designing these theme boxes may seem pretty straightforward, but in a youth institution, there are many security issues to consider. Over the past year, the first boxes have been tested in various groups within the State Juvenile Institutions.
