If there is one piece alone that represents all the avant-gardism and poetry
of the work of André Cazenave, it is without doubt the Dora lamp. Its pebble
form and singular texture make a lamp that is both functional and sculptural,
which takes on its full form when illuminated.
André Cazenave by Alia Vitae
For its first project, Alia Vitæ has chosen to pay homage to French designer
André Cazenave, who died 20 years ago.
If there is one piece alone that represents all the avant-gardism and poetry
of the work of André Cazenave, it is without doubt the Dora lamp. Its pebble
form and singular texture make a lamp that is both functional and sculptural,
which takes on its full form when illuminated. It is produced in three sizes,
which can thereby be accumulated to create a phantasmic decor.
The technology of the lamp needed to be completely reinvented. A challenge
for Alia its fabrication to a workshop in Montreuil, to the east of Paris.
Between tribute and modernisation, Alia Vitæ technology. The material thus
enhanced, it is the occasion for Alia favours fabrication by French artisans
and the use of responsible materials. Each piece requires a long period of
research and experimentation to ensure that the result is as close as possible
to the original intention and Vitæ designers and architects. Each project gives
rise to a carte blanche, an opportunity to propose a new interpretation of a
material with to instigate a correspondence, a dialogue, with contemporary
wide potential.
