Tall grain silos are a familiar sight in rural Dutch landscapes. What’s less well-known is that many stand empty and redundant due to agricultural optimisation and climate-goal-related reduced livestock. Costly to dispose of and impossible to recycle, farmers often just leave them standing.
New use
Rens Hein and Stella van Beers collaborated to give these 40 year old silos a new purpose, using the qualities of the existing silo.
These silos were converted for the dutch Lowlands festival and can be seen every edition in Biddinghuizen.
They went on a trip to Eindhoven for this years Dutch Design Week!
