Migraine is not only a common condition but also one of the most disabling, affecting millions worldwide. Despite its significant impact, effective treatments remain elusive due to the variety of symptoms. This research focused on developing practical tools to alleviate migraine-related discomfort through a user-centered approach and close collaboration with migraine sufferers and medical experts.
The resulting products address the patients' need for temperature-based aids, like ice packs and cherry pit pillows, often used for pain relief. The first product is a migraine baselayer featuring heat technology and vibration motors for muscle relaxation and pain relief. The second product, earpieces with a liquid core, offers cold therapy targeting the trigeminal nerve. Both products are meticulously designed with attention to anatomy and functionality. User feedback and prototype testing confirm their effectiveness and highlight the value of product design as a non-pharmaceutical solution.
