Experience the work of the creative partners of Expertise Network Systemic Co-design (ESCape)

Systemisch Co-Design tool — © Leroy Beesemer

ESCape works from systems thinking and design and the collective to contribute to transitions. On the basis of this collaboration between Applied Universities, governments and practice, this session spotlights the creative agencies. Experience how they work in practice as Systemic Co-Designers.

Expertisenetwerk Systemisch Co-design (ESCapa)

Expertise Network Systemic Co-Design (ESCape) is a collaboration of four universities of applied sciences together with creative (design) partners and governments to contribute to transition issues from the lenses of system thinking and design and the collective. We do this through practice-based research into ways in which these three lenses can reinforce each other and can be further developed together. ESCape is made possible by a SPRONG grant from SIA and contributes to KIA Societal earning capacity.

Within ESCape, the creative partners play an indispensable role. Like no other, they face working in transition practice on a daily basis and their experience and expertise is therefore of great value to further develop the ideas of SCD. Therefore, ESCape has asked ‘the ESCall’ via a voucher to further develop an approach or tool so that we learn more widely how SCD is and can be applied.

Creative agencies present Systemic Co-Design practice in transitions

From the ESCall, ten design firms from ESCape's partner network were given time and support to reflect on their own approach, tool or working method to translate it into a shareable ‘knowledge product’. At this meeting, the results of this ESCall will be presented and you will have the chance to engage with the designers of these approaches or experience their tool.

These are the agencies:

Bureau Contour: Creating a 4D systemic model
PerfectStorm: Systemic wind tunnel co-design working form
Design Innovation Group: Applicable equity principles
Being a designer: Collaborative Reflection
Cities of Things: Robo-Perspectives (exchange) toolbox
New Future Lab: Sustainable collaboration with users
Ice Fountain: The Trip
And finally, theRevolution, Fundamentals Academy and Erwin Elling Strategie & Advies joined forces around the theme: The voice of the silent middle

More information about the ESCall, the partners and Systemic Co-Design can be found on the ESCape website https://www.systemischcodesign.nl/.
