In today’s society, there exists a noticeable gap between visually impaired and sighted individuals, particularly in the realm of entertainment. This is especially true for hands-on games, where few options are accessible to players of diverse abilities. Even among inclusive games, many fail to provide a truly engaging experience for all participants.

BRIGHT was born from the ambition to allow participants to enjoy games together, regardless of their visual abilities. It fosters an inclusive environment where visually impaired and sighted players collaborate and interact. By focusing on communication and teamwork, BRIGHT demonstrates how games can be crafted to promote inclusivity without compromising the complexity and excitement that makes them memorable. Through its innovative approach, BRIGHT challenges the norms of the entertainment industry, showing that games can be design more accessible. This project aims to inspire change in the way and for whom games are design, ultimately to create experiences that welcomes players of all abilities.

Designing for Inclusivity

With the visually impaired as key audience, BRIGHT’s design was carefully tailored to address their needs while ensuring the game remains enjoyable for everyone. Strong colors and high contrast were used to enhance visual accessibility, making it easier for players with visual impairments to engage with the game. Additionally, tactile and auditory cues were integrated to create a multi-sensory experience that caters to all abilities.

At the core of BRIGHT is communication. Players must collaborate closely, relying on effective communication to solve challenges, creating a cooperative experience for both visually and non visually impaired participants. This focus on teamwork bridges the gap between different abilities and enriches the gameplay experience for all. Ultimately, BRIGHT not only entertains but also fosters understanding and empathy among players, encouraging them to appreciate each other's strengths and perspectives in a shared gaming experience.
