In the world of water management, a cultural change is taking place. A new, or actually very old, awareness of water is slowly growing. This 'water awareness' revolves around recognizing the regenerative power of water, or its self-healing capacity.
Regeneration
How can you actually work together with water? And how can you understand water in such a way that you can encourage it to use its own regenerative power? Does the word ‘management’ actually fit? Or does a new relationship with water arise that requires a new interpretation?
To explore these questions, Joost van der Cruijsen of Waterschap De Dommel and deep designer Anne van Strien conducted design research in the form of a series of WaterDialogues. They described the design research process and their findings in the book ‘Regenerative Water Management – Working together with the restorative power of water and natural processes.’
