Aeon - Privacy by Design

Exploring the user experience of data in the context of privacy and the role of designers in it

Privacy is often stuck between discussions of ethics and compliance. What if we could make privacy tangible and easy-to-use for citizens? Aeon is an app that gather traces you have left on the internet. Now yours, you are free to delete, modify and add to the gathered data.

In the past decade, at least 12B personal accounts were stolen. Moreover, large platforms increasingly turn to surveillance to steer your attention and guide your interactions. Personal data has become a commodity.

About Bureau Moeilijke Dingen

Bureau Moeilijke Dingen is a design studio, based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It is concerned with the interaction between humans and technology. The studio is specifically focused on the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence.
Lei Nelissen is a graduate student in Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology. His graduation project is concerned with making data rights and privacy tangible for citizens.
