Cities around the world are being hit hard by climate change and increasing urbanisation. At the same time, cities are part of a solution in which water is a unifying force, a catalyst and is leverage for sustainable development.
Water around the world is not only the most important risk factor, but is the biggest all-encompassing challenge. Water has the potential for transformative and sustainable impact and a comprehensive cultural shift.
This is the idea behind Water as Leverage, which contributes to the Paris Agreement and to the Sustainable Development Goals through its integrated and inclusive approach to transformative, design-driven solutions for complex urban challenges. It makes those that normally finance and carry out projects feel like ‘guardians of the body of thought’. And the vulnerable groups that the project targets are involved from the start in a process whose objective is to improve their living environment.
