We look into screens for about six hours a day. Like you, now. Looking into a window of knowledge and emotional satisfaction. A flat surface of endless depth. But which materials are we actually looking at? What are their hidden qualities?

Follow my explorations in my 3D room...

This window is a zoom into one of our most significant cultural objects: The screen. Through a twisting movement the hidden polarisation of light becomes visible. Between polarising filters a transparent sheet of PET-G plastic is slowly moving, changing in colour from bright green to translucent purple.

Below you see a video of liquid crystals reacting to stress, a microscopic view into the LCD screen.
