15 years of Vij5 – Let’s blow out some candles!

To celebrate our 15th birthday, we invited all designers we work with under the Vij5 collection to design a ‘refillable candle’. 18 designers responded to the briefing and an overview of their unique designs will be on display in the Vij5 showroom during DDW 2021. We gave all designers carte blanche for the design of the ‘refillable candle’ as we aimed for the designers’ various handwritings to come to the fore in the final product. The exhibition will therefore show a wide range of personal signatures and at the same time form an interesting unity, just like the Vij5 collection.

A 'refillable candle' is a shape/container that can be easily (re)filled with liquid candle wax to form a candle. After the candle has burned out, the user can buy a refill set via our webshop and refill the holder himself. For this project, we work with rapeseed wax: a local, safe and easy-to-handle product as a sustainable alternative to paraffin candles.

Prior to DDW, we will try to make a small production series of each design, so that the candles can be purchased during DDW. A selection of all entries may also become a permanent part of the Vij5 collection.
