By reinterpreting the production process of Wire Weaving Dinxperloo, Rick Tegelaar uncovers the beauty of Wire Weaving craftsmanship. During their close collaboration, they developed a way of weaving material gradients that put the refined qualities of wire meshes on display.
Alternating wires of contrasting materials add a subtle glow to the material that changes from alternating perspectives. Ultimately this material effect creates an ever-changing object. The wire mesh gets its strength from a pleated structure that reinforces its play with light and the environment. In this way, a collection of semi-transparent screens is created supported by slender steel frames.
The project shows the incredible craftsmanship of Wire Weaving Dinxperloo as well as the ingenious way of working of Rick and his studio. It's a true testament to the power of collaboration since the final outcome wouldn't be reached by traditional ways of working together. As part of the Wired Collectiv collection, the screens are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
