Walking through my city Utrecht, I was inspired by all the shapes and silhouettes that can be seen."Angle of incidence" is a translation from my view of everyday life and the aesthetics I experience. I have transformed the shapes into abstract ceramic objects.
Eye for aesthetics
When I walk outside I am surrounded by beautiful shapes, patterns, light and reflections. It fascinates me how all these different elements meet. For example, a reflection through the window forming a pattern on the wall or a reflection of a bridge in the water forming a perfect circle. Every day I try to capture such moments.
These moments give me a sense of peace, wonder and joy. I use the shapes I see around me as inspiration and transform them into abstract objects of ceramics. Through a created setting and experimentation with light and shadow I try to direct the moments I catch and the feeling it gives me.
My work should encourage you to just stand still, look and be amazed. I believe that having an eye for aesthetics and not taking everything for granted has a great influence on your state of mind.
