This project was part of DDW 2021

With Dust to Bloom, Maayke pays tribute to her flower-loving grandmother who she lost earlier this year. She developed a language of endangered plants to introduce more biodiversity into cemeteries. She has collected and illustrated 36 native Dutch plants that are slowly disappearing, to be sown on top of graves in a cemetery. As the tombstones turn to meadows, visiting cemeteries will be more enjoyable for both human and animal.
